Summary
Valerie Taylor is living a big, bold, adventurous life. After a childhood disrupted by life-threatening polio, Valerie defied the illness to become an artist, stuntwoman, actress and a champion spearfisher. In the 1950s, she met Ron Taylor and together their bold adventures really started. Valerie and Ron became experts in marine life, and shark especially. Their photographs, films and documentaries fascinated the world and their reputation grew. Hollywood, Spielberg and Jaws came knocking. Their own films would go on to win awards and inspire others like James Cameron. Valerie has met princes, rock stars and leading men, but it is the ocean that has made the deepest impression on her. As the years passed, she witnessed dying reefs and diminishing aquatic life. Never one to sit back, Valerie began to fight to save the world's wild oceans and reefs and create marine parks before it is too late. A committed conservationist, she has been awarded the Order of Australia and the Order of the Golden Ark for Marine Conservation for her efforts.
